Cretan sage

The Cretan sage differs qualitatively from the other native and cultivated Greek species, due to the microclimate of Crete. The handpicked quality and intoxicating aroma of the thick curly leaves of Cretan sage make this species unique and popular.

Sage generally is a perennial, evergreen shrub, with woody stems, gray-green leaves, and blue to purple flowers. It is a member of the Heilantha family and is native to the Mediterranean region, although it has naturalized in many places around the world. The common name "Sage" is also used for a number of related and unrelated species. The leaves are oblong, and range in size up to 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) by 1, and 2.5 cm in width, gray-green, thick, rough on the upper side, and almost white underneath due to of his thick short soft hairs.
