Rosmarinus officinalis, commonly known as Rosemary, Arimari, Rosemary. Rosemary is an aromatic evergreen shrub that has leaves similar to pine needles. It is native to the Mediterranean and Asia, but is quite hardy in cool climates. It can also withstand droughts, surviving a severe lack of water for long periods of time. Its name is Latin and means "dewdrop of the sea", since in many areas where it grows it needs no other water than the moisture carried by the sea breeze. It acts as antiseptic, antispasmodic, aromatic, astringent, cardiac, aphrodisiac, cholagogue, diaphoretic, menopausal, tonic, ophthalmic, tonic, stomachic. The oil is analgesic, antirheumatic and stimulant. It stimulates the circulatory system and nerves, has a tonic and calming effect on the digestive system, relieves muscle pain, sciatica, neuralgia, flu, colds, rheumatism, indigestion, nervous disorder, headache, eye washes, premature baldness.
