Pine Honey 900g -Georgakas-

Generally: It is the most important category of Greek honey, since more than 60% of the total annual production comes from pine trees. It belongs to the category of honeydew honey and its production requires the presence of the Marchalina hellenica (cotton bug) insect. Pine honey comes from the honeydew secretions (amino acids and sugars) of this insect.

Aroma and flavor profile:
WOODY, CHEMICAL,VEGETAL

COLOUR: brown (Spring pine is lighter than autumn)

SCENT: Sandalwood, pine resin, propolis, iodine (more pronounced in spring pine)

TASTE: Long lasting with notes of vanilla, caramel

TASTE COMBINATIONS: Yogurt with walnuts, feta, manouri, roasted vegetables, on bread with butter, green salads

Crystallization:  It is difficult to crystallize due to its low content of sugars and especially glucose.

Nutritional value:  It is honey with a high nutritional value, since its composition consists of a large number of nutrients and is rich in minerals and trace elements (calcium, copper, magnesium, zinc, iron, etc.), proteins and amino acids. It has fewer calories than honey.
